TB nurses in Burton on Trent have been supporting patients with TB with video observed therapy.

The programme came about after adherence to treatment was becoming a problem for some patients who were being asked to present at hospital every week to be monitored taking their medication.

Through the use of Skype, nurses are now able to contact the patient on a daily basis and watch them take their medication at home. It is proving very popular with patients and is improving adherence to the treatment programme as well as allowing the nurses more time to support patients.

Redmoor Health’s training team have been supporting the nurses throughout the process, providing them with equipment and ongoing support.
